The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan has reached an agreement to open a representative office in Turkey, as reported by the organization's press service.
On October 18, the chairman of the Chamber, Davron Vakhabov, met in Istanbul with the president of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. The discussions focused on enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
Particular attention was given to the "organization of mutual business missions and joint events" aimed at strengthening business contacts, as noted in the statement. The importance of having representatives for expanding export potential was emphasized.
The parties agreed to establish a representative office of the Chamber in Istanbul. It will be located in the office of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.
Vakhabov also met with the Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, Yusuf Halavi. The parties agreed to hold a joint business forum in Tashkent and Samarkand in 2025, as well as the participation of Uzbek businesses in the Makkah Halal Forum in Mecca.
Prior to this, at the end of September, the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan held talks with Egypt regarding the establishment of a joint chamber of commerce. It is expected to become an "important tool" for developing ties between the business communities.
