A U.S. trade representative has confirmed the conclusion of negotiations with Uzbekistan regarding its accession to the WTO.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced the conclusion of bilateral talks with Uzbekistan regarding its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), reaffirming the Biden-Harris Administration's support for this process.

“Uzbekistan submitted its application to join the WTO in 1994, but only intensified this process in 2020. Uzbekistan's strong commitment to advancing the negotiations led to the successful conclusion of our bilateral agreement,” emphasized Katherine Tai.

She also highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation within the framework of global trade initiatives and expressed confidence that U.S. support will aid Uzbekistan's successful integration into the international trading system.

Earlier, in November 2024, Uzbekistan's special representative to the WTO, Azizbek Urunov, announced the completion of negotiations with the U.S. regarding the country's accession to the organization.
