Winners of the 2024 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards: a squirrel in a hole and other hilarious captures.

This year, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards set a record with over 9,000 entries. The top prize was awarded to Italian photographer Milko Marchetti for his photo of a squirrel stuck in a tree hollow. Other winners included captivating shots of owls, frogs, a praying mantis, and even a sea eagle chasing after a bream.

Recently, the winner of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2024 was announced. This year, over 9,000 entries were received, setting a record in the competition's ten-year history, reports Lenta.ru.

The jury selected the winners from 40 finalists. The grand prize—a safari in Kenya—was awarded to Italian photographer Milko Marchetti for his photo of a squirrel stuck in a tree hole.

The photograph was taken in the Italian park Podere Pantaleone, located in the town of Bagnacavallo.

“This shot made me smile the moment I took it,” noted Marchetti.

Additionally, winners were determined in categories such as “Birds,” “Reptiles,” “Insects,” and “Fish.” Among the winners are photos of kissing owlets, a smiling frog, a praying mantis, as well as a bream chasing an eagle and a bird that bumped its head against a rock.

The People's Choice Award went to Finnish photographer Tapani Linnaanmaki for his photo of an eagle titled “Shake, Rattle, and Roll.”

The youngest winner in the “Portfolio” category was 10-year-old Flynn Taitanuende-Lobb with a series of photos titled “Dancing to Music, Playing Rock Guitar, Weeble Wobble, Weightlifting.”

Moreover, the organizers highlighted 10 photographs that did not win prizes but received high marks.

In 2022, the funniest wildlife photo was titled “Not So Great Cat Reflexes,” while in 2023, it was a kangaroo guitarist.
