Kazakhstan has seen a rise in illnesses linked to poor nutrition.

In Kazakhstan, the incidence of diabetes, obesity, and heart diseases continues to rise, largely due to the high consumption of foods rich in fats, sugars, and salt. The average salt intake in Kazakhstan is three times higher than the recommended levels, and one in five children is affected by overweight issues.
В Казахстане возросло количество заболеваний, вызванных неправильным питанием.

According to Timur SultanGaziev, the Deputy Minister of Health, Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase in diseases related to poor nutrition over the past year. The incidence of diabetes has risen by 16.7%, obesity by 2.5%, and cardiovascular diseases have increased by 6.2%, as reported by Zakon.kz.

The primary reason for these statistics is the high consumption of products with excessive levels of fats, sugars, and salts. For instance, the average daily salt intake in Kazakhstan reaches 17 grams, which is three times higher than the norm recommended by the WHO.

Particular concern is raised regarding the health of children. One in five children aged 6-9 is overweight, and 6.6% are suffering from obesity. One contributing factor is the frequent consumption of sugary beverages, which more than 16.7% of children in this age group regularly drink.

Timur SultanGaziev noted that 89.6% of non-compliant products are imported into Kazakhstan from abroad, while the rest are produced domestically. To address this situation, there is a need to promote healthy eating and increase public awareness about the impact of diet on health.
