The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has approached investigative authorities with a request to initiate a criminal case against blogger Ilya Varlamov under part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which pertains to evasion of responsibilities as a "foreign agent." This was reported by the agency on September 27.

According to the prosecutor's office, Varlamov has been subjected to administrative penalties twice for violations related to the activities of a "foreign agent," yet he continued to post messages on social media without the mandatory indication of his status.

Ilya Varlamov, who has not lived in Russia since 2022, has not yet commented on the prosecutor's actions. It is worth noting that in March 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice included the blogger in the register of "foreign agents," accusing him of spreading "false information" and receiving funding from abroad.

Criminal cases for similar violations have previously been initiated against other well-known figures, including singer Monetochka and rapper Morgenshtern.

Earlier, on his Telegram channel, he described how he envisions life in the capital of Uzbekistan and expressed a desire to move to Tashkent.

He stated that he would study cultural studies, explore the architecture and history of Tashkent, spend time in the mahallas, visit local markets, and historical landmarks. Varlamov also shared his interest in preserving the architectural heritage of the city, planning to support projects aimed at protecting historical buildings and ancient teahouses.

The blogger expressed admiration for the culture and atmosphere of Tashkent, particularly highlighting local traditions, food, and hospitality. "Tashkent, wait for me," he concluded his message.
