On February 22, Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov held talks with acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who arrived in Tashkent for a visit.

According to the press service of the Uzbek government , the meeting emphasized the significance of friendly and neighborly relations between the two countries. It was noted that the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, pays special attention to strengthening constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Afghanistan.

"In recent years, bilateral relations in trade, economy, and cultural-humanitarian spheres have been steadily developing. An important step in this direction was the opening of the Termez International Trade Center last year, which facilitates the growth of trade turnover between the countries," the statement says.

The parties also discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, transportation, and other areas.

The visit of the Afghan delegation will continue on February 23, during which a visit to several manufacturing enterprises in Tashkent is planned.
