Pharmacies and medical institutions in Uzbekistan will start paying VAT.

Starting April 1, 2025, pharmacies and medical institutions in Uzbekistan will be required to pay value-added tax (VAT) regardless of their income levels. This initiative is outlined in a presidential decree signed on December 27.

In addition to this, the authorities plan to abolish the excise tax on polyethylene raw materials used in the production of pharmaceuticals. Currently, the excise rate stands at 10%.

The development of the relevant draft law is scheduled for early 2025. It is expected that the document will go through the stages of review and approval by Parliament and the President by March.
