The development of the feasibility study for the high-speed passenger railway line "Tashkent - Samarkand" has officially begun.

On December 24, 2024, the management of JSC "Uzbekistan Railways" held discussions with Jin Kang, the project leader from SAMAN Corporation (Korea).
Запущена разработка ПТЭО для высокоскоростной железнодорожной линии «Ташкент – Самарканд».

This project was initiated by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and is aimed at modernizing the country's transport system. The new highway will significantly reduce travel time between two major cities, enhance passenger comfort, and improve the quality of transport services.

The parties emphasized the importance of this project for enhancing interregional connections, increasing passenger flow, and expanding the number of high-speed train services. The implementation of this project will be a crucial step in strengthening the economic development of the republic and elevate Uzbekistan's transport sector to a new level.

Following the negotiations, a decision was made to establish a working group to expedite the preparation of the project's feasibility study.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the creation of high-speed railway corridors at a meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank's governors held in September in Samarkand. These corridors will connect Tashkent with Samarkand, as well as Samarkand with Navoi and Bukhara.
