“This route will facilitate the transportation of goods from China through Kyrgyzstan to Central Asia, the Middle East, including Turkey, and further into the European Union. The implementation of the project will strengthen interregional ties, allow for the diversification of transport routes, and enhance the region's status as an international transport and transit hub, which aligns with the interests of all Central Asian countries,” emphasized Sadyr Japarov.
The Chairman of the State Committee for Development and Reforms of China, Zheng Shanzhe, read a statement from the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. In his message, Xi Jinping noted that the project creates a new land corridor connecting Asia and Europe, significantly improving the conditions for the movement of people and goods among the three countries. The implementation of this initiative will serve as a catalyst for industrial development, resource exploration, trade growth, and investment attraction, positively impacting the region's prosperity.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khojaev, delivered the address from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The head of state described the commencement of construction as a historic event that the three countries have been working towards for nearly three decades.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the new railway will become the shortest land route connecting Central Asia with China. It will create conditions for deepening multifaceted cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership among China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
The ceremony concluded with the symbolic laying of the first stone, attended by Sadyr Japarov, marking the beginning of one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the region.
