Children were beaten in a private kindergarten
Previously, it was reported that in the private kindergarten "Tanzilandia" in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent, caregivers systematically beat children. The incident was uncovered not through surveillance cameras, but via a sound recording device embedded in a child's toy.
One parent noticed changes in their child's behavior and, to uncover the reason, sent the child to kindergarten with a toy equipped with a dictaphone. An eight-hour audio recording captured caregivers not only insulting the children but also repeatedly hitting them.
Later, parents were able to view recordings from surveillance cameras at the local police station, as the kindergarten management refused to provide them. The video showed caregivers hitting children in the gym, changing rooms, and assembly hall, while in the rooms equipped with cameras, they behaved calmly and friendly towards parents.
Is the case being covered up?
According to one mother, the owner of "Tanzilandia" is a relative of a high-ranking official, which is why complaints are being "swept under the rug."
"I don't know if she's someone's wife or daughter… She hides [the footage from the cameras], doesn't show it, and [the case] is being covered up. There’s even a video showing a small child being thrown," she said in an audio message for Kun.uz.
According to open data , the kindergarten is managed by Dilrabo Davlatboevna Tursunova. She also owns 7% of the shares in the private educational institution "Yuksalish Construction," while the remaining shares belong to Mukhiba Karshieva (27%) and Maksuda Kudbieva (66%).
Will any measures be taken?
The Office of the Ombudsman for Children's Rights previously provided an official clarification. According to their information, on February 12, seven parents filed a complaint regarding the abuse of their children by caregivers and demanded action.
Currently, the police department of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district is conducting a preliminary investigation. A forensic examination has been appointed to establish any bodily injuries among the children.
The kindergarten administration has already terminated employment contracts with three caregivers. The investigation is ongoing, and they promised to provide further updates on its results.
Additionally, on February 27, the Senate sent a request to the Minister of Preschool and School Education regarding the causes of violence in kindergartens and measures to prevent it. The ministry reported that they are conducting a relevant study of the situation.
