"Deputy N. Sultонов has requested the Ministry of Energy to provide a justified explanation regarding the restrictions on the operation of charging stations for electric vehicles and their disconnection from electricity. He also asked the Cadastral Agency to express its opinion on the legality of dismantling electric vehicle charging stations in Tashkent," - it is stated in the report.
The deputy's inquiry notes that the number of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan is increasing; specifically, over 20,000 such vehicles were imported into the country within the first 10 months of 2024. This trend has necessitated the development and expansion of infrastructure for electric vehicle usage. Entrepreneurs have installed charging stations for electric vehicles around many service facilities and have begun offering services to the public.
Furthermore, a government resolution dated December 9, 2022, established the requirement for the mandatory inclusion of electric vehicle charging stations in the projects of shopping and business centers, entertainment and leisure establishments, gas stations, hotels, as well as infrastructure facilities along international and state highways.
However, entrepreneurs are expressing dissatisfaction regarding the disconnection of electric vehicle charging stations located in the capital and connected to the electrical grids as sub-subscribers, who have no outstanding electricity payment debts.
