Lawmakers have begun reviewing a bill to ban electronic cigarettes.

The proposed legislation aims to prohibit the production, manufacturing, storage, transportation, and sale of devices intended for tobacco and nicotine use, including electronic cigarettes. It also suggests implementing administrative and criminal penalties for the cross-border movement of such products.

In the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, there is ongoing discussion regarding a bill aimed at combating the rising consumption of these products, particularly among the youth.

The document provides for a complete ban on certain types of tobacco products, as well as devices for consuming tobacco and nicotine, including electronic cigarettes. Additionally, measures for administrative and criminal liability are being introduced for the import of such devices across the state border.

The bill was presented for public discussion in April 2024.

Previously, it was reported that in Kyrgyzstan, a law prohibiting the import, use, and sale of electronic cigarettes will come into effect on July 1, 2025.
