Lawmakers have approved Uzbekistan's accession to the Eurasian Development Bank.

Members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved the draft law on "The Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Agreement on the Establishment of the Eurasian Development Bank" (EDB).
Депутаты поддержали вступление Узбекистана в Евразийский банк развития.

This decision is aimed at diversifying long-term investment sources for the development of the country's infrastructure, energy, and industry, as well as expanding financial opportunities.

The Eurasian Development Bank, with a charter capital of $7 billion, is engaged in financing investment projects in member states. Its main areas of activity include supporting projects in the fields of "green economy," transport and logistics, alternative energy, digital transformation, and agriculture.

Since 2016, the bank has already financed projects totaling $15 billion.

The Eurasian Development Bank was established in 2006 by Russia and Kazakhstan. Armenia and Tajikistan joined in 2009, followed by Belarus in 2010 and Kyrgyzstan in 2011.

Previously, Kun.uz reported that Uzbekistan will receive approximately 10% of the capital of the EDB.
