Lawmakers backed criminal penalties for funding mass riots.
The bill proposing amendments to Article 244 (Mass Riots) of the Criminal Code has been approved in its third reading.

On December 24, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis discussed the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to Article 244 of the Criminal Code."
According to the draft, Article 244 of the Criminal Code is supplemented by a third part that establishes specific liability for undergoing training aimed at organizing mass disturbances.
Furthermore, the fourth part of the article provides for direct liability for financing mass disturbances.
Additionally, the article is supplemented by a new fifth part, which stipulates the exemption from criminal liability for individuals who voluntarily report to law enforcement agencies regarding their participation in the training.
