The head of Surkhandarya awarded the leadership of local administrations bonuses totaling hundreds of millions of sums.

The governor of the Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Kosimov, allocated awards amounting to hundreds of millions of sums for the leadership of local administrations in celebration of Defender of the Fatherland Day. A document detailing this order that surfaced in the media sparked significant public outcry, leading to its cancellation.

In a document signed on January 20, Kosimov ordered the allocation of over 660 million sums to reward the regional hokims, as well as eight deputy hokims of the region, particularly concerning family and women's issues.

The order in the document management system was marked as "for official use only." However, according to the law "On the Transparency of Activities of State Authorities and Administration," information regarding the expenditure of budgetary funds and extrabudgetary funds falls under the category of open information about the activities of state bodies.

Amid public outrage, the regional hokimiyat announced today that the order has been revoked. The funds will be redirected to implement the program "From Poverty to Well-Being."
