The first stone of a large-scale regional project was laid on December 27 in the village of Tosh-Kutchu in the city of Jalal-Abad.

Speaking at the ceremonial event, the leader of the neighboring state emphasized that the railway is not just a transport corridor, but an important strategic bridge that will connect the countries of the East and West:

"This route will facilitate the delivery of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, as well as to countries in Central Asia and the Middle East, including Turkey, and further into the European Union."

The project is also intended to strengthen interregional ties, diversify transport routes, and enhance the region's competitiveness as an international transport and transit hub.

Messages from the Chairman of China, Xi Jinping, and the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, were also presented at the event. The address from our country's leader to the ceremony participants was read by Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khojaev. It noted that the commencement of railway construction is a historic event that our friendly nations have been working towards for nearly 30 years.

In his message, Mirziyoyev also revealed some details of the project. The railway will follow the route Kashgar – Torugart – Makmal – Jalal-Abad – Andijan. Along its entire length, 20 stations, 42 bridges, and 25 tunnels will be constructed. Additionally, modern transit and logistics infrastructure, warehouses, and terminals will be created.

"According to estimates, the commissioning of this highway will lead to a multiple increase in regional trade and investment, a significant reduction in transportation costs, and the unlocking of vast transit potential in Central Asia. The annual cargo volumes along our corridor will reach up to 15 million tons," noted the leader of Uzbekistan.

The distance and delivery times for goods from China to European countries will be reduced by several thousand kilometers and nearly a week. There will be opportunities to organize regular passenger transport.

"In the long term, the integration of this railway line with the Trans-Afghan corridor will effectively connect and enhance the transport and communication interconnectivity of China, Central, and South Asia. It is clear that all our countries will feel the economic benefits. Hundreds of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs will be created," emphasized Mirziyoyev.

Uzbekistan intends to actively participate in all stages of the railway construction, utilizing all available technical and intellectual resources to the fullest extent.
