Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to exchange convicted prisoners.
The Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan has passed a bill in its third reading that facilitates the transfer of convicted citizens between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. According to the document, citizens from both countries serving sentences abroad will be able to continue their punishment in their homeland.

As reported by Umutkan Konkubaeva, the Deputy Attorney General of Kyrgyzstan, there are 42 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan, while 97 citizens of Uzbekistan are in Kyrgyzstan. All of them will be transferred to serve their sentences in their respective countries.
The agreement on the transfer of convicts was signed between the two countries on July 18, 2024, in Tashkent.
