The Ministry of Energy reports that safe gas flaring is taking place at the "M25" field in Baysun.

Fires have broken out in the area of the "25th Anniversary of Independence" field and its surroundings. The Ministry of Energy has reported that they are currently neutralizing the escaping gas through safe burning methods.
Министерство энергетики сообщает, что в Байсуне на месторождении «М25» осуществляется безопасное сжигание накопленного газа.

A video was previously published showing fire outbreaks at the "25th Anniversary of Independence" field, located in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region. The Ministry of Energy, commenting on this situation, clarified that safe burning of accumulated gas is being conducted.

It is reported that no emergencies are observed at the "M25" field. Planned conservation work has begun at the site of the methane release that occurred in September 2024, which is accompanied by continuous monitoring.

According to the Ministry of Energy, during the incident response work at well No. 604, a small volume of gas accumulated through microcracks in voids and reservoirs near the surface in remote areas from the well.

Currently, work is being carried out to neutralize the accumulated gas through burning it. This is done to prevent the release of acidic gases into the atmosphere.

“This process is a standard approach to prevent environmental pollution and fully complies with international industrial safety requirements.

The planned conservation and preventive work includes a series of operations that may be misinterpreted by those unfamiliar with the specifics of this technological process. An example of this is the video material that circulated regarding the current situation,” the statement said.

Let us remind you that the first accident at the "25th Anniversary of Independence" field occurred on September 1, and it was resolved on September 15. However, a second accident happened on September 17, resulting in fatalities . This information was announced a day later at a press conference at AIMK, dedicated to another topic. At the briefing on September 18, the Minister of Energy announced that the families of the deceased would be taken under the care of the contracting organization.
