The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has denied reports of a metapneumovirus outbreak among children.

According to the information from the agency, reports of children being infected with metapneumovirus are unfounded. In anticipation of the New Year, preventive sanitary and disinfection measures were carried out in five departments of the pediatric center, which temporarily increased the flow of patients.

The ministry emphasized that the center does not specialize in receiving and treating patients with the infectious diseases mentioned on social media and urged users not to spread unverified and baseless messages.

Recall that earlier the Ministry of Health called for calm in connection with reports of the spread of the new metapneumovirus.

The infection typically presents symptoms characteristic of ARVI: runny nose, cough, and fever. In rare cases, bronchiolitis and pneumonia may develop.
