Mirziyoyev described the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway as a historic event.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a message marking the commencement of the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, according to the press service of the head of state.
Мирзиёев охарактеризовал строительство железной дороги Китай-Кыргызстан-Узбекистан как историческое событие.

"This is truly a historic event that our friendly countries have been working towards for nearly 30 years. A new transportation artery of international significance is being formed. It will connect the Central Asian region to China via the shortest land route, further promoting the expansion of multifaceted cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between our states," - wrote in his message, Mirziyoyev.

The project includes the construction of 20 stations, 42 bridges, and 25 tunnels along the route from Kashgar to Andijan, as well as the establishment of a modern transit-logistics infrastructure. It is expected that the annual freight volumes will reach 15 million tons, significantly reducing transportation costs and delivery times for goods from China to Europe.

According to Mirziyoyev, this project aligns with the goals of the "Belt and Road" initiative and will help revive the Great Silk Road, creating new jobs and enterprises in the region. Uzbekistan intends to actively participate in the implementation of the project, utilizing all available technical and intellectual resources.

Today, on December 27, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, laid the first stone for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

Japarov noted that the new route will ensure the delivery of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, as well as to the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East, including Turkey and the European Union.

In September 2022, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China agreed to construct a 454-kilometer railway line. The shares in the project are distributed as follows: Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan - 24.5% each, China - 51%. Kyrgyzstan will invest 11 billion soms (approximately $126.4 million) in the construction of the railway.
