The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, congratulated the current head of the Belarusian state, Alexander Lukashenko, on his election victory during a phone conversation. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“The head of our state specifically noted that the high voter turnout and the results of the voting once again confirmed the great trust of the Belarusian people in the current President of the country, as well as the broad support for the political course and socio-economic reforms being implemented,” the statement reads.
During the conversation, issues related to the development of Uzbek-Belarusian relations were discussed in the context of implementing the agreements reached during Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Uzbekistan from February 7-9 of last year.
Alexander Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994, received 86.82% of the votes in the presidential election, in which he participated for the seventh time.
