Mirziyoyev participated in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

On December 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated as an observer in the latest meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU) held in Saint Petersburg, according to the press service of the head of state.

The meeting took place under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan (in an online format). Heads of state from the EAEU, as well as representatives from Iran and Cuba, also participated in the session.

The agenda included discussions on expanding trade and economic cooperation, supporting industrial cooperation projects, and implementing joint programs.
The President of Uzbekistan noted that our country has established fruitful interaction with the EAEU in 22 areas. In 2024, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with EAEU countries increased by 11%.



Mirziyoyev highlighted the priorities for mutually beneficial cooperation with the EAEU, including the elimination of trade barriers and the alignment of technical regulation systems. He proposed participation in the Agreement on a unified customs transit system and accelerating the implementation of electronic data exchange.

Uzbekistan is interested in connecting to mechanisms that support industrial cooperation and localization programs. The procedures for joining the Eurasian Development Bank are expected to be completed at the beginning of next year.

To strengthen business ties, it was suggested to hold a meeting of the EAEU Business Council in Tashkent in April 2025. The importance of collaboration in the field of digital technologies and artificial intelligence was also emphasized.

To stimulate tourist exchanges, it was proposed to allow citizens of EAEU countries to enter Uzbekistan using internal documents.
