The Tashkent Metro has implemented the "MyID Palm" payment system, which is based on palm vein pattern recognition. This was reported by Uzinfocom to the publication Spot.
The biometric identification of passengers utilizes vein scanning technology, which creates a unique pattern on the palm. The system has been developed by local specialists in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, the payment service "ATTO," and the bank "Octobank."
The developers assure that user data is securely protected. The technology prevents unauthorized access and forgery of biometric profiles, as noted in the announcement.
The "MyID Palm" scanners are currently operating in test mode at 12 stations on the Chilanzar line. In the near future, they are planned to be installed at all metro stations.
To use the system, a transport card from "ATTO" and an installed application on a smartphone are required. To activate it, users will need to create a biometric profile and scan their palm at one of the information kiosks located at the stations where the system is operational.
As a reminder, testing for palm payment began at the end of October 2023. The first station where the technology was implemented was "Druzhba Narodov."
