A resident of the Markhamat district, who joined the Armed Forces of Russia, has been brought to criminal responsibility. Kun.uz reviewed the court's verdict.
According to the document, 38-year-old T.A. traveled to Moscow in April 2023 in search of employment. During seasonal work, he was recruited into the Russian army and participated in military actions against Ukraine.
On July 21, 2023, T.A. signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Russia. Under this contract, he took part in combat operations in Shakhtarsk and Bakhmut. He returned to Uzbekistan on December 31, 2023.
During the trial, T.A. fully admitted his guilt: “On April 17, 2023, I went to Moscow. First, I worked as a butcher for 15 days, then I got a job at the Novatek oil exchange. There, I met a Russian citizen, Igor Vladimirovich, who offered me to participate in the Special Military Operation on the side of the Russian Armed Forces. In return, he promised a high salary, a contract with the Russian army, and compensation in case of injury.
The offer intrigued me. In June 2023, I signed a contract to serve in the military and undergo training. For two months, I trained at a military training ground in Moscow, learning to shoot weapons.
On July 21, 2023, I signed a contract with the Russian army, which promised to pay me 450,000 rubles monthly for participating in combat operations. Initially, I received two payments of 150,000 rubles each, but then there were no further payments.
By the end of July 2023, I participated in combat operations in the Ukrainian cities of Shakhtarsk and Bakhmut. Until November 2023, I was involved in battles and killed more than 10 Ukrainian soldiers. Due to my successful participation in combat, I was transferred to the reconnaissance unit of the Russian army. After that, I fought in Luhansk for over five months.
At the end of December 2023, I returned to Moscow. I was offered to remain in the ranks of the Russian army, but I declined.”
On December 31, 2023, T.A. returned to Uzbekistan and voluntarily reported to law enforcement, where he disclosed his participation in combat operations.
The court found T.A. guilty of committing crimes under part 1 of article 154 (“Mercenarism”) and part 1 of article 154-1 (“Recruitment for military service in security agencies, police, military justice, or similar bodies of foreign states”) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
He was sentenced to a restriction of liberty for 4 years and 2 months.
Previously, a student who went to study in Moscow and ended up in the war was also convicted.
