The Fatwa Center of the Muslim Administration of Uzbekistan has determined that the amount of nisab (minimum wealth or property) for zakat this year will be 61,200,000 sums, based on the value of 85 grams of 585 gold.
"Accordingly, anyone who has monetary funds or goods valued at no less than 61 million 200 thousand sums, beyond their essential needs, must give one-fortieth (2.5%) of the total amount as zakat to those in need," the religious administration stated.
The amounts for fitr-sadaqa have also been established:
- 2 kg of wheat flour — 10,000 (ten thousand) sums;
- 4 kg of barley — 16,000 (sixteen thousand) sums;
- 2 kg of raisins — 110,000 (one hundred ten thousand) sums;
- 4 kg of dates — 180,000 (one hundred eighty thousand) sums.
"Everyone can choose one of these four products or pay their value as fitr-sadaqa, depending on their means.
The amount of fidya for one day is equal to the amount of fitr-sadaqa.
Thus, everyone can choose one of these four products or pay their value as fidya, based on their capabilities," the Fatwa Center noted.
