Electricity consumption in Uzbekistan is expected to nearly double by 2035.

By 2035, electricity consumption in Uzbekistan is expected to rise by 1.7 times compared to current levels. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation focused on enhancing energy efficiency.
К 2035 году потребление электроэнергии в Узбекистане почти удвоится.

According to an analysis , the energy intensity of Uzbekistan's economy is 2.5 times higher than the global average. Electricity losses in the networks reach 14%, while natural gas losses exceed 7%. As a result, studies have been conducted that revealed reserves for saving 4.6 billion kWh of electricity and 1 billion cubic meters of gas across seven regions of the country.

During the presentation, specific proposals were discussed, including the replacement of outdated pumps in the water management sector, which will save 1 billion kWh of electricity annually. Additionally, there are plans to upgrade boiler houses and implement "green" energy in social institutions, which will save 5 million cubic meters of gas and 15 million kWh of electricity this year.

This year, it is planned to save 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas and 3.5 billion kWh of electricity. To achieve this, enterprises and organizations will be provided with scientifically grounded recommendations, and energy consumption standards per unit of production will be established for large industrial facilities, which will reduce costs by 5–10%.
