According to the presidential decree issued on October 10, 2023, the road sector has been improved, enabling an expansion in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads.
The document outlines plans for the construction of modern highways. In particular, with the support of the World Bank, a project for an alternative route "Tashkent – Andijan" has been developed.
The 314-kilometer expressway will reduce travel time between the two cities from 5 to 3 hours. The project is expected to boost the gross domestic product by 2.6 percent and decrease the number of road traffic accidents by 40 percent.
It was noted that an international tender has been announced for this project, attracting interest from many large foreign companies.
During the meeting, proposals for the project were discussed. The Ministry of Transport has been tasked with developing alternative highways and other congested routes to enhance the convenience and safety of the roads.
Additionally, the head of state was briefed on the project for constructing a dry port in the Navoi region, which is being implemented in collaboration with the Emirati company AD Ports Group.
