Ryan Gosling is in talks for the lead role in a new film set in the "Star Wars" universe. This project will be a standalone story, not connected to the "Skywalker Saga," and will introduce new characters.
The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, known for movies like "Deadpool and Wolverine" (2024), "Free Guy" (2021), and the series "Stranger Things." The screenplay is being written by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on "Project Adam" (2022). The production will be handled by 21 Laps.
Work on the project began in 2022, and "Star Wars" is currently a priority for Levy. If Gosling accepts the offer, filming will be his next major project, and the film will represent the next step for the franchise following the already confirmed project "The Mandalorian and Grogu."
Details about the plot have not been revealed yet, but the film will be separate from the classic storyline, and familiar characters like Luke and Anakin Skywalker should not be expected to appear.
