Saida Mirziyoyeva: Uzbekistan is actively taking steps towards joining the WTO.

The assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, shared the nation's recent accomplishments in its journey toward joining the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Саида Мирзиёева: Узбекистан активно движется к вступлению в Всемирную торговую организацию (ВТО).

“In 2024, our country made significant progress in this direction. This was made possible by the decisive economic reforms implemented by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,” emphasized Mirziyoyeva.

Last year, Uzbekistan held two key meetings of the WTO Working Group, which allowed for the formation of the main membership document – the draft report of the Working Group. Additionally, bilateral negotiations were completed with 15 countries, including the United States, China, and Japan. To date, Uzbekistan has already signed 23 agreements.

Furthermore, 20 significant laws aimed at enhancing business transparency and competition were adopted. These measures have become an essential part of the country's preparation for integration into the international trading community.

“This year, we will continue at the same pace to soon become a full member of the Organization. This should enhance the country’s investment attractiveness and facilitate the entry of Uzbek businesses into regional and global value-added chains,” noted the President’s assistant.

Saida Mirziyoyeva emphasized that the ultimate goal of joining the WTO and the economic reforms is to improve the welfare of the population, create decent jobs, and transition to more effective economic management.
