The Senate has approved a law banning the privatization of recreational parks.

It is noted that there is currently a need to define the permitted types of land use to ensure compliance with land and urban planning legislation, urban planning regulations, as well as to increase awareness among land users, tenants, and owners regarding the proper use of land plots.

Additionally, there is a necessity in the republic to enhance the protection of areas such as squares, parks, alleys, and waterfronts, along with the trees planted in these locations, and to take measures to prevent the construction of buildings and structures in these areas.

The law introduces permitted types of land use, strictly prohibiting the privatization or alienation of lands used to meet the cultural and everyday needs and recreation of the population, the reduction of their areas, as well as the construction of buildings and structures on these lands.

Violations of these restrictions will lead to increased criminal liability, with amendments made to include botanical gardens in the list of protected natural areas, prohibiting their privatization and construction on their territories.
