At the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the first president has been immortalized at the state level. His birthday, January 30, is celebrated annually across the country. In Tashkent, a scientific and educational memorial complex has been established, and visiting the mausoleum of Islam Karimov in Samarkand has become a tradition.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from parliament, the government, the president's administration, as well as figures from science, culture, and the public. The attendees recited verses from the Quran, performed dua, and remembered the contributions of Islam Karimov.

Similar commemorative events took place in Samarkand and Karshi.

Today, Islam Karimov would have turned 87 years old. He led the country from 1991 until his passing in 2016.
