Tashkent ranks second in the world for air pollution levels.

On December 27, Tashkent ranked second among major cities worldwide for atmospheric pollution levels.

According to the data from the IQAir portal, at 8:00 AM, the concentration of fine particulate matter PM2.5 in the air of Tashkent reached 249 µg/m³, which falls into the "extremely harmful" category.

The top spot in the ranking is held by the Indian city of Delhi, where the concentration of PM2.5 particles hit 292 µg/m³. In third place is Lahore (Pakistan) with a level of 237 µg/m³. Fourth place goes to the Chinese city of Wuhan, which recorded 220 µg/m³.

The top ten also includes Sarajevo (Bosnia), Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), Manama (Bahrain), Kabul (Afghanistan), Karachi (Pakistan), and Hanoi (Vietnam).

According to the World Health Organization, among the indicators of air pollution, fine particulate matter PM2.5 poses the greatest health risk.
