"This is a recommendation from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), as we provide services to passengers who are European citizens. It is not related to the crash of the Azerbaijani Airlines plane," the airline emphasized.
Uzbekistan Airways is referring to the EASA communication from January 9 of this year, which advised airlines against flying through Russian airspace.
"It is important to note that currently, no EU airline is operating flights to, from, or over the airspace of the Russian Federation. However, several carriers from third countries continue to do so, despite the risks associated with the war," the statement says .
Meanwhile, on the Flightradar website, it can be seen that planes heading to EU countries are flying through Azerbaijani airspace.
