Uzbekistan and GIZ are in talks about advancing green industrialization and enhancing industrial technologies.

A meeting took place between Umid Abidkhadjaev, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a delegation from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), led by Beate Shoreit.

The main topics of discussion were the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for industrial policy using the EQuIP methodology, as well as the preparation of Uzbekistan's industrial development strategy.

During the meeting, initiatives to support "green" startups, projects implemented in collaboration with universities and industrial companies, and the preparation of industrial enterprises for cross-border carbon emissions regulation were also discussed.

The project "Support for the Private Sector of Uzbekistan and Economic Policy Consulting" aims to assist Uzbekistan in the field of green industrialization, the implementation of energy-saving and resource-saving technologies, which aligns with the strategic goals of national sustainable economic development.

The parties confirmed their readiness for active cooperation aimed at achieving the set goals and implementing effective solutions in the field of economic policy.

The project will be executed using a multi-step approach, ensuring close collaboration with government agencies, private companies, business associations, and research institutes.

One of the key tasks is to establish a solid foundation for the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies and the development of "green" industry in Uzbekistan.

The project is financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and is being implemented with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
