According to the General Prosecutor's Office , in 2024, a total of 3,821 criminal cases were initiated against officials, resulting in 4,906 individuals being held accountable. In comparison, in 2023, there were 3,412 criminal cases initiated, with 3,575 individuals held accountable.
The status of the officials held accountable in 2024 is distributed as follows:
- Republican-level employees – 71 individuals;
- Regional-level employees – 410 individuals;
- District (city) level employees – 4,425 individuals.
For comparison, in 2023, the following officials were held accountable:
- Republican-level employees – 49 individuals;
- Regional-level employees – 267 individuals;
- District (city) level employees – 3,259 individuals.
Types of crimes committed by officials in 2024:
- Theft through appropriation or embezzlement – 2,929 individuals (in 2023 – 2,205);
- Receiving or giving bribes, mediating in bribery – 353 individuals (in 2023 – 195);
- Fraud – 447 individuals (in 2023 – 272);
- Abuse of official authority – 226 individuals (in 2023 – 397);
- Exceeding authority – 13 individuals (in 2023 – 30);
- Official forgery – 13 individuals (in 2023 – 36);
- Official negligence – 40 individuals (in 2023 – 25);
- Other crimes – 885 individuals (in 2023 – 415).
