In China, a judge and investigator clashed, prompting the Judicial Council to report on the pressure involved in the incident.

The Supreme Judicial Council of Uzbekistan has reported ongoing interference in judicial matters and attempts to exert pressure on judges. The Council deemed the situation a threat and has submitted a formal request to the prosecutor's office.

In 2024, the General Prosecutor's Office received 5 submissions regarding interference in the activities of judges. Criminal cases have been initiated for three of these submissions, while two are still under review. Additionally, unjustified disciplinary actions against 10 judges have been revoked.

“Interference in the work of judges continues. A recent incident in Chinaz is a striking example. An investigator, unhappy with the decision of the district court chairman, engaged in a heated argument with him. We regarded this as a threat and submitted a report to the prosecutor's office. An internal investigation is underway regarding the investigator,” reported the press secretary of the Council, Tursunali Akbarov.

He also emphasized that pressure can come from various sources, including journalists, bloggers, lawyers, and even government agencies.

As of February 20, 2025, there are 1,518 judges working in the system. In 2024, the powers of 40 judges were terminated early: 19 by their own request, 11 for violating their oath, and 10 for failing to adhere to the Code of Judicial Ethics.
