According to the Department of Highways of the Fergana Region , on the night of February 23-24, the water level in the Fergana Canal, which runs alongside the ring road at the 286th kilometer through the "Kahat" neighborhood of the Bagdad district, rose. This caused water to seep under the road surface, resulting in its subsidence.
Currently, traffic is temporarily restricted at the 285th kilometer of the Kokand-Fergana highway and at the 288th kilometer in the opposite direction. Repair work is underway at the site.
This road was repaired in August 2024. The daily traffic intensity here is between 30,000 and 35,000 vehicles. Due to the collapse, the detour has increased by 25 km. The work is expected to be completed by 6:00 PM on February 24, after which traffic will be restored.
Earlier, reports were made about the subsidence of a road section in Andijan.
