In Samarkand, a driver who carried a traffic officer on the hood of his car has been taken into custody.

On January 31st in Samarkand, a traffic police officer attempted to stop an Onix vehicle that had no license plates. The driver disregarded the officer's lawful request, engaged in actions that posed a threat to life, ran over the officer, causing him bodily harm, and fled the scene of the incident.

In Samarkand, a driver who failed to comply with a lawful request from a traffic police officer and engaged in actions threatening the inspector's life has been taken into custody. This information was reported by the press service of the regional traffic police.

On January 31, on Biy Street in Samarkand, a traffic police officer attempted to stop a government-unregistered Onix vehicle using a baton and whistle. The driver ignored the lawful request of the inspector, took actions that posed a threat to life, ran over the officer causing bodily harm, and fled the scene of the incident.

Following this incident, the Prosecutor's Office of Samarkand has initiated a criminal case under two articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan:

• Article 140, Part 3 (Insult in connection with the victim's performance of official or civic duty),

• Article 219 (Resistance to a representative of authority or a person fulfilling civic duty in any form, coercion to refrain from performing official duties or committing unlawful acts).

The driver was detained in accordance with the law, and a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to him.

Currently, investigative actions are underway regarding this incident.

For reference:

• Under Article 140, Part 3, a fine of 400 to 600 basic calculation units is prescribed, along with corrective labor for a period of 2 to 3 years or restriction of liberty for up to 1 year;

• Under Article 219, the punishment includes restriction of liberty for 3 to 5 years or imprisonment for the same period.
