Tashkent has unveiled its first art installation designed as a retreat from polluted air.

The first public art installation, "Breathe with Me," has been unveiled in Tashkent, offering a respite from polluted air and urban noise. The structure was designed by Swiss designer Annabelle Schneider.
В Ташкенте открылась первая арт-инсталляция, предлагающая жителям отдых от загрязненного воздуха.

The installation is an inflatable cocoon that responds to low-frequency sounds corresponding to the heartbeat. Inside the structure, the sounds of the sea can be heard, and a gentle breeze circulates the air.

This installation is located in the Tashkent City Mall. Similar structures have been set up in some of the noisiest cities in the world, such as New York and Barcelona.

According to eco-activist Motabar Khushvatkova, the installation aims to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on people's health in Uzbekistan.

“Today in Tashkent, excessive noise and air pollution are observed due to the increasing number of vehicles. Street advertisements exceed the standard amount, and the brightness of night signs causes visual fatigue,” she noted.

Tashkent is one of the cities with polluted air. As of November 24, the air quality index in the capital was 92 AQI. The concentration of PM2.5 is 6.2 times higher than the recommended annual average set by WHO.
