During the meeting, the current state and future prospects of partnership relations were thoroughly discussed, along with the establishment of target benchmarks for mutual trade, investment attraction, and industrial cooperation.
A significant increase in trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Egypt was noted, which doubled by the end of last year. This positive trend continues in the current year. There has been nearly a twofold increase in the supply of yarn, petroleum products, chemical and pharmaceutical goods, electrical equipment, as well as agricultural products and services.
In Uzbekistan, there are 15 enterprises with Egyptian capital participation. Egyptian companies are implementing projects in areas such as food production, geological exploration, and the modernization of water supply and drainage systems in various regions of Uzbekistan.
The parties continued their work within the framework of the 7th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Reports from the heads of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as industry associations responsible for implementing existing agreements, were presented at the meeting. Each stage of the projects was analyzed in detail, effective solutions for their successful implementation were developed, deadlines established, and responsible individuals appointed.
The day's program continued with a business forum featuring over 150 leaders of major companies from both countries. The Egyptian side was represented by companies such as El Sewedy Electric, Hassan Allam Holding, ACDIMA, EPICO, Nile Sugar, Badawy Group, Masriya Machine, Ebtkarat Smart Systems, Solyphar, Al Farouk For Import & Export, and others.
Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov emphasized the importance of enhancing business interactions and achieving breakthrough growth in trade relations, based on an analysis of the potential of regional markets and transport-logistics capabilities.
During the forum, Uzbekistan's economic potential was presented, along with investment initiatives and project proposals in areas such as digital technologies, education, pharmaceuticals, food industry, agriculture, and tourism.
Conditions for doing business in Uzbekistan were also outlined, ensuring the protection of entrepreneurs' rights, as well as key aspects of the country's investment and industrial potential.
As part of the program, B2B and B2G meetings took place, where entrepreneurs discussed the joint implementation of mutually beneficial projects and trade agreements.
Following the events, the Protocol of the 7th meeting of the Uzbek-Egyptian Intergovernmental Commission and a number of bilateral agreements were signed, including agreements on technical cooperation in the field of environmental protection, regional cooperation between the Samarkand region and Alexandria province, and cooperation in education between Ain Shams University and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and ACDIMA.
