Uzbekistan has appointed a new Deputy Minister of Sports.

Avazhon Karimov has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan. The relevant decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Karimov has experience in the fields of sports and management. He graduated from Tashkent State Economic University in 2005, the State Institute of Physical Culture in 2016, and the State University of Physical Culture and Sports in 2021.

He began his career in 2006 as the deputy chairman of the National Karate Federation. Subsequently, Karimov held several leadership positions within the country's sports organizations.

From 2019 to 2020, he served as the director of the Republican College of Olympic Reserve. In 2020-2021, Karimov was the deputy minister of physical culture and sports, and from 2021 to 2022, he held the position of deputy minister of tourism and sports. Since 2022, he has been working as an advisor to the minister of sports.
