Last week, the country held negotiations with a delegation from Afghanistan led by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. During the meetings, the parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, and transport sectors.
The parties agreed to extend the construction project of the Surkhan-Puli Khumri power transmission line with a voltage of 220-500 kV. The project will be complemented by the construction of new substations and networks. By optimizing and increasing the share of localized materials, the construction costs have been reduced from $252 million to $222 million.
Currently, the contract is in the approval stage and will be signed after all necessary procedures are completed.
Earlier, Abdul Ghani Baradar reported on the reduction of tariffs. He stated that as a result of negotiations with the Uzbek side, an agreement was reached to increase the volume of electricity supplies during the summer period.
