The Statistics Agency has published data on industrial production for January-November 2024.
According to the report, for the first 11 months of the current year, gas extraction amounted to 40.75 billion cubic meters, which is 2 billion cubic meters or 4.7% lower compared to the same period last year.
The gas extraction figures for January-November 2024 are as follows:
For reference: in 2022, gas production decreased from 53.8 billion to 51.67 billion cubic meters, or by 4%, while in 2023 it fell from 51.67 billion to 46.71 billion cubic meters, a decline of 9.6%.
The dynamics of natural gas extraction from 2018 to 2023 are as follows:
According to statistics, gas extraction has decreased by 24% or 14.88 billion cubic meters over the past 6 years, with the rate of decline accelerating in 2024.
As a reminder, the strategy "Uzbekistan – 2030" sets the goal of increasing natural gas extraction to 62 billion cubic meters per year, which implies a 33% increase in production over 7 years.
Amid the decline in extraction, the volume of gas imports continues to rise. Specifically, from January to November, gas worth $1.552 billion was imported, which is 2.8 times more compared to the same period in 2023.
In turn, the total volume of gas exports during this period increased by 16.5%, reaching $593 million. A particularly sharp rise in gas sales has been recorded in recent months.
Earlier, Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov stated that gas imports from abroad could reach 10–11 billion cubic meters by 2030.
Additionally, in the first 11 months, coal production amounted to 7 million 328 thousand tons, which is 27.5% more than in the same period last year.
During the reporting period, oil production decreased from 709 thousand tons to 657 thousand tons (-7.3%), while gas condensate production increased from 1,094 thousand tons to 1,113 thousand tons.
From January to November, electricity generation increased by 4.5% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, if 70.4 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the first 11 months of 2023, this figure rose to 73.6 billion kWh in the same period of the current year.
Diesel fuel production decreased from 939 thousand tons to 912 thousand tons, while gasoline production fell from 1 million 215 thousand tons to 1 million 186 thousand tons.
