Last year, Uzbekistan officially registered 9,364 road traffic accidents (RTAs). This marks a decrease of 4.8% or 475 cases compared to 2023, when 9,839 RTAs were recorded.
The number of individuals injured in accidents last year fell from 9,209 to 8,901, representing a decrease of 3.3%. The number of fatalities due to RTAs also declined to 2,203 individuals, which is 3.5% or 79 fewer than in 2023.
During the Senate meeting, it was also reported that the data on injured and deceased children for 2024 has not been specified. In 2023, there were 1,794 accidents involving children, resulting in injuries to 1,568 children and fatalities of 263 children.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security, Kutbiddin Burkhanov, who presented the statistics, noted that the primary causes of RTAs are the public's disregard for the responsibilities set forth by law, as well as a lack of knowledge of traffic rules.
