Uzbekistan has implemented fines for altering photos and videos involving law enforcement officials.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has enacted a law that intensifies penalties for the distribution of altered photos and videos of law enforcement personnel.
В Узбекистане установили штрафы за фальсификацию фото и видео с участием правоохранительных органов.

According to Article 195−2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses , publishing materials on the internet or other sources that distort the image of law enforcement officers while they are performing their official duties is now punishable by a fine ranging from 7.5 million to 18.75 million sums or administrative arrest for up to 10 days.

The law applies not only to police officers but also to representatives of the prosecutor's office, the National Guard, and the Customs Committee.

The initiative sparked significant public resonance even during the discussion phase. Similar measures were first proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in March 2022, but at that time, they concerned a ban on publishing any photos and videos of traffic police officers' work without their consent. After public criticism, the wording of the law was revised.

The final version of the document was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on November 28, 2023, almost unanimously. It emphasizes the prevention of discrediting and insulting law enforcement officers through distorted materials.
