In Fergana, an attempt to secretly import jewelry worth 483 million sums has been thwarted.
According to the report from the Main Customs Department of the region, customs officers at the "Fergana Airport" checkpoint detected a violation while inspecting a passenger arriving on the Istanbul-Fergana flight. He claimed to have no goods subject to customs control and passed through the "green corridor" without filling out a passenger customs declaration.
The passenger's actions raised suspicions among the customs officers, prompting them to inspect him and his carry-on luggage in accordance with established procedures.
As a result, it was discovered that the individual attempted to secretly transport 105 pieces of jewelry of five different types, weighing a total of 620 grams and valued at 483 million sums. The jewelry was concealed in his carry-on luggage, on his person, and hidden on his body.
Preliminary investigations are currently underway regarding this incident.
According to current regulations, individuals are allowed to import jewelry made of precious metals and stones into the republic without paying customs duties within a limit of up to 65 grams.
