Жапаров запустил строительство железной дороги, соединяющей Китай, Кыргызстан и Узбекистан.

The opening took place on December 27 in the village of Tosh-Kutchu, located in the city of Jalal-Abad.

According to the head of state, this road will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's role as a transit hub on the Eurasian continent.

Japarov emphasized that the new route will facilitate the transportation of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, as well as to Central Asian countries and the Middle East, including Turkey and the European Union.

He expressed confidence that the interaction between the peoples of the East and West will be enhanced, and the historical spirit of the Great Silk Road will be revived.

The president added that the route will also accelerate the country's economic development, connect regions, and create thousands of jobs. He highlighted that the railway from Balikchy to Makmal will be linked to this route, connecting the north and south of Kyrgyzstan.

In September 2022, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China agreed to construct a 454-kilometer railway line. The project shares are distributed as follows: Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan - 24.5% each, China - 51%. Kyrgyzstan will invest 11 billion soms (approximately $126.4 million) in the construction of the railway.
