The President of Uzbekistan met with the Russian Defense Minister.

On January 22, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrey Belousov, who is in the country for an official visit. This information was reported by the president's press service.

During the meeting, the topics of further development of Uzbek-Russian relations and strengthening strategic partnership were discussed.

Special attention was given to the practical implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in May 2024.

Moreover, the importance of expanding cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries was emphasized in accordance with the adopted programmatic and planning documents.

Earlier, a series of key documents were signed in Tashkent, outlining the future cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the military sector. In particular, the parties approved a cooperation plan for 2025, as well as a strategic partnership program for 2026-2030.
