Kusherbaev expressed his dissatisfaction with Wizz Air and submitted a complaint to the virtual reception of the president. In a video he posted on YouTube, he claims that crew members demanded he leave the aircraft after he requested an explanation of the safety rules in Uzbek or Russian.
When Kun.uz contacted the airline's customer support, an employee confirmed that such a request does not violate any rules.
What did Kusherbaev say?
According to Kusherbaev, on November 9, he was flying from Samarkand to Abu Dhabi. Before the flight, the crew informed him that he was seated in front of an emergency exit and explained his responsibilities. Since the passenger did not understand English, he asked the flight attendant to explain in Uzbek or Russian. Another crew member stated that this was not possible and asked Kusherbaev to leave the plane.
It is unclear what transpired between them afterward, but Kusherbaev claimed that he did not engage in a conflict.
It is known that airlines typically sell seats next to emergency exits (since they provide more legroom) at a higher price. However, sometimes such seats may be allocated to passengers who check in last or book them through the airline's electronic platform.
Rasul Kusherbaev asserts that he was unaware his seat would be next to the emergency exit before boarding.
Nevertheless, the plane later took off with Kusherbaev on board. Upon arrival at their destination, the police intervened, suggesting that the parties come to an agreement. In response, Kusherbaev stated that he would contact the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
"Wizz Air staff photographed my passport and informed me that I would no longer be able to use the services of this company and that sanctions would be applied against me," said the former deputy.
He described the airline's actions as a disrespect towards the state language of Uzbekistan.
