Rano Abdullaeva, who held the position of secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan for ideological issues, passed away on January 12 at the age of 89. This was reported by Gazeta.uz .
Rano Abdullaeva was born on September 16, 1935, in the Shafirkan district of the Bukhara region. From 1970 to 1987, she was regarded as one of the most influential women in the Uzbek SSR.
From 1963 to 1971, she served as the first secretary of the Komsomol of Uzbekistan, then as the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Uzbek SSR, and until 1987, she was the secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan for ideological matters.

Rano Abdullaeva spent nearly two years in prison as part of the so-called "cotton case" and was rehabilitated by a decision of the Supreme Court of the USSR.
In 2020, in an interview with the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan ( UzA ), she spoke about the "cotton case", the role of ideology, and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan Sharaf Rashidov.
The deceased was the grandmother of Azim Akhmadkhodjaev, who currently heads the Agency for Atomic Energy ("Uzatom") under the Cabinet of Ministers.
Rano Abdullaeva was awarded orders and medals of the former USSR.
